PLEASE NOTE: This series of prenatal classes has now finished. If you are wanting to attend a safe, gentle and nourishing practice during pregnancy, we recommend Yin Yoga classes.

SUPPORT you and your BABY during PREGNANCY

This is a nurturing yoga class, especially designed for expecting mums – new to yoga or not.

It is the only prenatal class offered in Whanganui and offers a special opportunity to help you find comfort during pregnancy as well as prepare for labour and birth.

Prenatal and postnatal yoga certified teacher, Tiana, will guide you through gentle poses that build vitality and stamina, as well as stretch and open the body relevant to the various stages of your pregnancy.

You will learn breathing techniques that relax and calm the mind – giving you tools to stay calm and relaxed in any situation, including labour.

TRANSITION with EASE

The combination of physical postures, flowing sequences and breath-work will help you to relax into the physical and emotional demands of pregnancy, helping to support you through this transformational time.

Practicing prenatal yoga can help to alleviate many of the discomforts that may be felt during pregnancy such as nausea, lower back pain, headaches, swelling and digestive disturbances.

Additionally, maintaining an active yoga practice during the nine months of gestation can greatly aid in postnatal recovery.

Reducing stress and cultivating relaxation can help you to surrender to the experience of pregnancy and birth.

Prenatal yoga will also help you to slow down, tune into the sensations in your body and connect with your growing baby.

It’s great way to meet other Mums to be and build connections in your community.

BENEFITS of prenatal YOGA

  • Improves coordination, balance, strength and flexibility
  • Increases circulation and decreases swelling, which in turn provides more blood flow to baby
  • Awareness and toning of pelvic floor muscles greatly assists in postnatal recovery
  • Alleviates stress and promotes relaxation
  • Helps you to bond with baby
  • Shown to significantly reduce stress
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Reduced risk of preterm labour and other complications

*Yoga is recommended by the American Pregnancy Association (APA) as a safe and gentle way to stay active and healthy during pregnancy.

TIANA your prenatal yoga FACILITATOR

Tiana is trained in prenatal and postnatal yoga, anatomy, physiology, perinatal nutrition and Ayurveda with industry-respected Bliss Baby Yoga. Bliss Baby Yoga is accredited with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS-200) and a Registered Prenatal Yoga School (RPYS).

Tiana practiced yoga consistently during her pregnancy with her first daughter – she says it helped immensely, giving her the permission to slow down, to connect with her growing baby and explore her changing, growing body during this new season. She says prenatal yoga also offered her a sense of community, peace, and solace from so many aches and pains, both physically and emotionally, at that time. Tiana truly believes practicing yoga enabled an unmedicated birth, despite her daughter arriving five weeks early.

Missing it terribly during her second pregnancy due to a move and no access to the gift that is prenatal yoga, Tiana (already a certified Level 1 Yoga teacher at that time) responded to the calling to share the practice of prenatal yoga with other mothers.

Now based in Whanganui with her family, Tiana is thrilled to be able to share her prenatal knowledge and love of yoga with expectant Mothers in the community.
