🌸 Yoga + Art Immersion for Girls (8–13 yrs)

A soulful mini-retreat these school holidays

Join us for a magical 3-hour yoga and art therapy immersion designed especially for girls aged 8–13. This nurturing and empowering session is part retreat, part creative adventure — and 100% fun, soulful, and supportive.

🌿 What to expect:

Led by experienced yoga teacher Simone Grant, and guest facilitator Iva Leonard, this special class combines gentle movement, breathwork, creativity, and connection in a safe, inclusive space.

Your child will:
✨ Learn yoga flows and breathing techniques that promote calm, strength, and flexibility
✨ Enjoy playful movement, games, dance, and relaxation practices
✨ Be guided through creative art therapy activities that explore self-expression, emotional regulation, and confidence
✨ Sip on nourishing ceremonial cacao — a healthy “hot chocolate” made with 100% pure Peruvian plant medicine (rich in iron, magnesium, and feel-good compounds!)

🎨 About the art therapy session:

Led by Iva Leonard, a talented artist and eco-conscious designer, the art segment is more than just making art — it’s a mindful journey into self-expression. Activities may include:

  • Create Your Inner Goddess Collage – a fun visual expression of each girl’s strengths, dreams, and identity

  • Emotion Mandalas – drawing, painting, or collaging symbolic images to explore and understand feelings

  • Affirmation Art Cards – colourful, empowering take-home reminders of inner wisdom and strength

  • Candle-making or upcycled crafts – connecting to creativity and sustainability
No experience or artistic ability needed — just an open heart and imagination!

🧘‍♀️ Why this matters:

Yoga, mindfulness, and creative expression offer profound benefits for growing minds and bodies. Girls will leave feeling grounded, uplifted, and connected — to themselves and others.

Benefits include:

✔ Enhancing emotional regulation and resilience
✔ Reducing stress and anxiety
✔ Boosting creativity, memory, and learning
✔ Building body confidence and self-awareness
✔ Supporting healthy friendships and self-expression

Testimonials:

Simone has been sharing her love of yoga with pre-school and school aged children across Whanganui over the last five years in both a schooling environment, and at her city studio, and in nature.  Read some of the reviews below:

“My granddaughter Poppy and I loved attending. Poppy looked forward to it every week and was so sad it had to end, she has some wonderful yoga tools to take with her as she begins school. I highly recommend it, much thanks Simone.”
– Kim Gooding, Poppy’s Nana

“Talulah was a little shy to begin with but after four weeks she has absolutely blossomed and what Simone has taught us is seriously helping deal with emotions. She can’t stop talking about ‘oga’ and showing Dad all the poses and breathing exercises – ‘Bumble bee’ breath is a favourite and we use it together to settle and relax before bedtime.”
– Carly Mcalorum, Talulah’s Mum

“Thank you so much Simone for our wonderful yoga and mindfulness sessions this year – the children always looked forward to you coming. It was amazing to watch the children transform from busy to peaceful, calm five year olds. The different themes and messages you shared throughout, fitted perfectly with our school values and virtues programme.
– Dinny Harrison, New Entrant/Year 0 Teacher, St Johns Hill School

“Thank you so much for sharing your light, love and passion for yoga with nga tamariki Simone. Your kind, gentle and fun loving personality makes you the perfect person to brighten up our day.”
– Fiona Penn, Head Teacher, Whanganui Montessori Pre-School

“Simone is wonderful with our children when she shares yoga. So peaceful and calm and our kindy children are captivated by the wonderfully imaginative story lines and themes built into the movement. Highly recommend Simone as an instructor for children.”
– Shelley Kyle, Teacher, St Johns Hill Kindergarten
