Bliss out with the medicine of Yin and sound by the sea
Simone is coming together with guests Leaf and Drugo (once again) to offer a Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and sonic healing experience – this time a summer infused practice to activate the healthy movement of Qi and help you flow into the season of aliveness.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fire is the energy of Summer. This energy is symbolic of maximum activity or greatest yang, which means that it is a time of heat, outgoingness, and moving outward in nature and in our lives. In human anatomy, the heart, mind, and spirit are ruled by the fire element, called ‘Shen’. The all-levels Yin Yoga practice will focus on the heart and small intestine meridian, the two pathways related to ensure your fire energy is balanced – so you can feel all the good vibes of summer; joy, fun, and inspiratoin according to TCM. Imbalances can lead to manic and anxious feelings during this season.
Also included is a relaxing guided Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) – with both practices (Yin and Nidra) being supported by the loving ethereal sounds from traditional instruments from around the world, including; didgeridoo, handpan, chimes, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, traditional flute, Shaman drum, and rain stick.
All equipment is provided (mat, blanket, and block). However you are welcome to extra BYO props for your comfort.
This experience is held at the Duncan Pavillion at Castlecliff beach – close to the sound and energy of the ocean and the setting evening summer sun. Parking right outside is available.
Please wear comfy clothing you can move in. The space will be nicely warmed. Bring layers you can put on or take off to suit.
Benefits of Yin:
Yin Yoga addresses the connective tissue, which reduces pain and stiffness, improves body posture, strength and endurance and creates elegance, harmony, greater mobility, and health. It follows Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) wisdom, working with the meridian pathways of the body for healthy Qi (prana or lifeforce).
Further benefits include:
- Reduces stress relief
- Decrease stress
- Lengthens muscles
- Reduces adhesions
- Hydrates tissues and muscles
- Thickens and strengthens ligaments
- Lubricates joints
- Hydrates skin
- Detoxifies
- Reduces degeneration of tissues
- Normalises curvature of the spine
- Reduces osteoporosis
- Helps to prevent fusion of joints
- Calms the nervous system and the mind
- Increases the level of GABA (help the body respond to stress)
- Assists meditative practice
Benefits of Yoga Nidra:
Yoga Nidra is the most gentle of yoga practices where you simply lie on your back in corpse pose (called Savasana in Sanskrit).
In this particular practice of Yoga Nidra, you will be invited on a sarced journey around your body, rotating consciousness to release and holdings and connect with the trusting rhythm truth and light within.
Yoga Nidra is also known as Yogic Sleep. It not only helps you to recognise your more subtle energies, but also promotes deep rest and wellbeing.
Yoga Nidra is also reported to assist you in accessing your calm state more readily, improve your sleep, and sharpen your mind and creativity long after practicing it – 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra, which is said to equate to two hours of sleep. A practice that is super nourishing for many consumed by the ‘doing’ in our modern, busy, Western life.
Benefits of sound healing:
Sound or vibration is at the core of all life, without these vibrations the Earth and the Universe would not exist. Vibration is about connecting to what makes us human.
Vibration is known to have the power to alleviate physical pain and shift emotional and psychological states, bringing about increased access to healing, harmony and connection. It encompasses the OM. It refers to Atman (soul) and Braham (ultimate reality, truth, divine). Science is now proving it’s healing affects on a range of illnesses and disease.
